A few months ago we added blogs to our website here in YWAM Taipei. The first month we had over 200 people open the blog to check it out. All 200 of them saw a blank blog site as no one was using it. This blog was for just one school. We have blogs for each school. My first reaction was, we just blew a great opportunity to let 200 people know what the school is all about. After a lot of encouragement by me to use the blog site we had about 3 posts.
I realized sometimes discipleship involves more than just a little encouragement. Because I saw this as such an incredible opportunity I decided to require all of our SBS students and staff to post weekly on the blog. It became part of their grade which seemed to provide the needed motivation. I wish that the motivation would simply come from a generous heart that is willing to share with others. It didn’t at first, but now after an initial push it has become just that. Think about it, a total of 35 blogs per week. Of course we split that between English and Chinese, but it still adds up.
I am not from the blog generation, but I am still able to see a great opportunity when it stares me in the face. For some reason this generation has a fascination with blogs so we need to jump on it. I wish every SBS worldwide would grab a hold of this chance to motivate others to know Him through His word. Not to mention it is a great way to advertise your school for free!
