On the 27th of June the class of 2014/15 had their graduation. After nine months of diligently studying through all sixty-six books of the Bible, graduation day was one of thanksgiving and celebration. The school leader, Andrew Kiwanuka, reminded the graduates of the underlying value of the School of Biblical Studies – to study the Bible, to live out Biblical truths in our own lives and only then to teach the Bible to others – STUDY, DO and then TEACH.The seven students represented three nations – Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.Formal learning took place in the classroom, but much informal learning and debating took place around cups of tea or a shared lunch or Jack fruit. As a department we continue to focus on not only imparting academic knowledge, but also character development and prayerfully trusting the Holy Spirit to work in each of the student’s lives. As we were reminded, the people of God are not so much interested in the certificates hanging on our walls, as they are in the examples we set by our own lives.Studying the Word of God is for transformation…in our own lives as well as those we minister to.SBS is such a valuable tool for anybody in ministry, whether part time or full time.None of us will dare to perform a medical procedure without the necessary training and qualifications, yet many of us are willing to do exactly that with the Word of God when ministering to people’s spiritual needs.Could this be the time for you to get better equipped to STUDY, DO and TEACH God’s Word?
